Putting pallet racking on asphalt can work well, but only when the loads are spread properly. Floor Rail U150 is fitted under the rack line to distribute the point load from the uprights over a wider area. This helps prevent rack feet from sinking and reduces the risk of cracking in the asphalt surface, especially in busy aisles where forklifts turn and brake close to the uprights.
For pallet racking installed on asphalt, the maximum racking height is 6 m. The 1170 mm rail length is intended to suit typical rack bay spacing. The foundation beneath the asphalt must be able to carry the loads and the ground must not be prone to frost heave. The galvanised rail suits demanding environments, including cold halls (approximately -25°C to +30°C).
For added protection at aisle entrances, combine it with the matching Front Upright Impact Protector U150, which is also galvanised.

If your racking line is going onto asphalt, the floor needs more attention than it would on concrete. Asphalt is a practical surface for yards, terminals and temporary halls, but it does not like concentrated point loads. Without load spreading, the feet of pallet racking can press into the surface, the row can drift out of square and cracks can start to form right where you need the floor to stay intact.
Floor Rail U150 is a simple, effective way to control those risks. The rail is positioned under the pallet racking frames and it distributes the upright loads over a wider footprint. Instead of the load sitting on one small base point, the pressure is shared along the rail. That keeps the rack line steadier and helps protect the asphalt from damage caused by everyday loading and unloading.
Asphalt has a much lower permitted surface pressure than concrete. In practical terms, asphalt is allowed roughly 25 times less surface pressure than a concrete floor. This difference is the reason a floor rail is not an optional accessory in asphalt installations.
