Because each chip contains mostly air, the material is exceptionally light, which helps control shipping weight while still delivering dependable protection for fragile goods.
Loose fill packing peanuts are small pieces of expanded polystyrene (EPS) designed to act as a void fill and shock absorber inside shipping cartons. EPS is a closed‑cell material that resists compression and springs back after impact. Unlike flat paper or foam sheets, packing peanuts surround the item on every side, spreading impact forces and reducing pressure points. That makes them a practical choice for irregular shapes, mixed shipments, and parts that are vulnerable to knocks and vibrations.
These packing peanuts are antistatic, helping to minimise static build‑up and the risk of discharge when packing circuit boards, drives, measuring instruments and other ESD‑sensitive parts. For best practice, combine the antistatic loose fill with antistatic or metallised shielding bags around the device itself, then use the EPS chips to immobilise the inner pack.
