The University of Turku Library modernizes, including material storage facilities
Earlier, the University of Turku Library operated 17 branches across the campus. By now, this number had been successfully reduced to six for more effciency. Achieving this required both new construction and significant renovations to modernize the spaces.
The Quantum library created a dedicated area for periodicals by merging two previously cramped storage spaces. The Teutori library occupies premises in a former shoe factory, giving it unique character.

Mobile shelving systems were chosen for both the Quantum and Teutori library locations to maximize floor space utilization. On average, mobile shelving accommodates about 1.5 times more material compared to traditional fixed shelving. These systems can also be equipped with pull-out drawers for added convenience.

Teutori also houses collections from the Archive of Cultural Studies, part of the Department of History, Culture, and Arts Studies. These collections are stored in manually operated mobile shelving units. In addition to traditional shelving, some units include pull-out drawers for enhanced storage flexibility.
