The container body is immersed in an approx. 450 °C zinc bath to build an ~80 µm zinc layer that forms a tough barrier against corrosion even in road‑salted yards or wet process areas. Unlike painted or electro‑galvanised finishes, hot‑dip galvanising protects cut edges and internal seams, helping the bin withstand years of outdoor storage and rough handling without the rust creep that weakens lesser bins.
