Need to build wide, continuous shelf levels fast? The Dexion longspan shelving beam uses a boltless hook-in connection and fits straight into the adjustment holes on the front of the uprights, so you can set level heights without tools. It is a practical choice when you want fewer uprights and more clear width on every shelf level.
The reversible Z-profile is designed to handle torsion and it also works as a support for decking. Add optional steel shelf panels, or use plywood or chipboard (particleboard) when you want a solid working surface for cartons, bins and bulky parts.
Combine beams with upright frames to build a Dexion longspan shelving bay (also known as wide span shelving in many warehouses).

When you store bulky cartons, deep bins or awkward-shaped parts, a standard light-duty shelf can feel cramped. A Dexion longspan shelving beam gives you the span you need while keeping the structure simple: upright frames, hook-in beams and the shelf surface of your choice. Longspan shelving is sometimes referred to as wide span shelving, because it is designed to cover wider bay widths than traditional shelving. Use it to create wide, continuous levels that are easy to work from and easy to reconfigure as stock changes.
The beam has a reversible Z-profile. In day-to-day use, that means you can flip the beam to suit the shelf surface and the way you want the level to sit. The Z-profile is designed to resist twisting under load, which is especially important when storing large items that are hard to place perfectly in the middle of the shelf.
The profile also doubles as a shelf support. You can place steel shelf panels on top, or create a continuous deck with plywood or chipboard. This flexibility is useful when your stock varies: one level might carry small cartons, the next could take a deep parts bin, and a third might be reserved for long components that need a flat surface.
A longspan shelving beam gives you the structure, but the shelf surface defines how the level is used. Steel shelf panels are a robust option when you want a ready-made, consistent level across the bay. They are also a good fit for environments where shelves are wiped down regularly.
Plywood or chipboard (particleboard) can be used when you want a simple solid deck for mixed items. Many warehouses use board decking to create a continuous surface for cartons and bins, especially when the load is spread across the level rather than concentrated in one point. Whichever surface you choose, the Z-profile supports it cleanly along the beam line.
A Dexion longspan shelving installation consists of upright frames and horizontal beams. By selecting the beam length that matches your intended bay width, you create the structure for each shelf level. Then you choose the shelf surface that best fits your work.
Many sites combine different level types in the same bay. For example, steel shelf panels can be used on the levels that see the most handling, while board decking is used on reserve levels where goods are stored for longer periods. The key point is that the beam remains the same: it supports the level and keeps the structure aligned.
The light grey RAL 9002 finish helps you maintain a uniform look across the shelving, which is useful in production environments where clear, consistent layouts support safety and efficiency.
