In a Dexion P90 pallet racking bay, the I-beam is the horizontal component that hooks into the upright frames (end frames) and takes the load between the frames. Choose the correct beam length and capacity and you get a level that loads smoothly, stores safely and makes the best use of every square metre in the warehouse.

Dexion P90 beams are commonly selected according to pallet standards so the bay width is right for the pallets you actually handle. That is why typical P90 beam lengths are aligned to Euro pallet storage and FIN pallet storage, allowing you to build bays for one, two, three or four pallets per level while keeping sensible clearance for handling.

What the beam does in a P90 pallet racking bay

The beam pair forms the front and rear supports for a pallet. Each beam locks into the upright perforations with end connectors, creating a rigid level across the bay. The beam profile and height affect both capacity and clearance, so the beam is not just a “bar” between frames. It is a structural part of the rack that must match the correct system and be used with the correct safety parts.

Standard beam lengths for Euro pallets and FIN pallets

• Euro pallet beam lengths: 950, 1850, 2750 and 3600 mm (typically one, two, three or four Euro pallets per level)
• FIN pallet beam lengths: 1200, 2300, 3400 and 3600 mm (typically one, two or three FIN pallets per level)

Capacity

Load requirement is what decides which pallet beam you should choose. These Dexion P90 I-beam pallet beams offer a high level capacity, up to 4000 kg per level, when the correct beam length and configuration are selected for the load and rack design.

When you evaluate capacity, keep the real operating situation in mind. A level load is affected by the number of pallets on the level, how the weight is distributed, and whether the pallet or load is likely to concentrate weight on a smaller footprint. If you store very dense goods, pallets with point loads, or loads with uneven weight distribution, the safe solution is to plan the combination of beam and frame as a complete system rather than selecting parts one by one.

Finish and visibility in daily warehouse use

Dexion P90 pallet racking beams are powder coated for a durable finish. This model is supplied in orange RAL 2001, a colour that improves visibility in the aisles and makes it easier to see beam levels and load positions during operation. A zinc-plated option is also available, and for outdoor use there is a galvanised pallet racking alternative.

Safety locks included

The beam must stay fully engaged in the upright at all times. That is why these beams include safety locks (2 pcs). The locks are installed at the beam ends to reduce the risk of the beam lifting out during handling or if the rack is hit. As a rule, always install and use the safety devices specified for the racking system.

Safe pallet racking is a combination of correct components, correct installation and correct use. If you are replacing older beams or mixing new parts into an existing rack, it is especially important to verify that the beam model, connector type and locking method match your frames.
