Charging cabinet and charging trolley for controlled device storage
Shared laptops and tablets are a great productivity boost until they start disappearing into drawers, running out of battery halfway through a shift, or turning up in the wrong room. A lockable charging cabinet or a mobile charging trolley puts the routine back under control. Devices are stored, locked and charged in one place, so they are ready when the next user needs them.
These solutions are designed for indoor environments where the use of mobile devices should be organised and, when necessary, restricted. You may also see the term charging locker used for this type of lockable charging cabinet. Schools are a typical example, but the same need comes up in offices, training rooms, warehouses and production facilities. When the device pool is centralised, it is easier to keep track of equipment, keep the space tidy and reduce day-to-day interruptions.
Charging cabinet: fixed storage that keeps devices in order
A charging cabinet is the straightforward choice when devices have a permanent location. It creates a clear return point for every laptop, tablet or handheld device. That simple habit makes handovers smoother, cuts down on time spent searching, and helps keep equipment off desks and worktops.
The cabinet is built for secure storage. Once the doors are closed and locked, devices are protected from unauthorised use and casual damage. This is especially useful in areas where multiple people share the same equipment and accountability matters.
Inside the charging cabinet, devices are stored on multiple shelves, keeping the layout neat and allowing devices to be separated from each other. The perforated side panels visible on the unit support natural air circulation in everyday use, without the cabinet taking over the room visually.
Charging trolley: the same security, now mobile
If devices move between rooms, departments or class groups, a charging trolley (often called a charging cart) is often the better fit. Mobility is the key advantage: rather than carrying individual laptops around, you move one locked unit. This is practical in larger buildings and in operations where the same device set is shared between several points.
The trolley is easy to steer and stable on longer moves. It is fitted with two swivel castors and two fixed wheels, so it tracks straight and remains predictable in corridors and through doorways. When you reach the destination, the trolley can be parked where it is needed, while devices stay protected behind closed doors.
Store and charge at the same time
The main purpose of a charging cabinet or charging trolley is to keep devices ready for work. By charging several devices in the same unit, you avoid the familiar problem of hunting for free wall sockets or setting up temporary charging points around the room. It also reduces cable clutter in high-traffic areas and helps maintain a cleaner working environment.
Safe power supply
Charging multiple devices should be simple and safe. That is why the charging cabinet and charging trolley are equipped at the rear with a residual current device (RCD) and a main power switch. The main switch lets you isolate the unit quickly, for example during cleaning, maintenance, transport or when the unit is not in use.
The RCD adds an extra layer of protection in everyday operation. In busy environments, this matters: it supports safer charging without relying on improvised solutions such as repeatedly plugging and unplugging cords from hard-to-reach outlets.
Colour options that match your environment
The standard colour is light grey RAL 7035, a common and practical finish for industrial and institutional interiors. Selected colours from the RAL colour chart can be supplied without extra charge, and most semi-matt RAL Classic shades are available to order. This makes it easier to match existing furniture, site colour coding or school interiors without changing the functional concept.
The units are CE marked.
