The Dexion HI280 standard shelving extension bay is designed for exactly that: you start your row with a HI280 starter bay and then add extension bays to create a straight, tidy line of shelving that suits your picking route and the space you actually have.

This is a fully galvanized boltless shelving system for professional small parts storage. The zinc-coated surface resists corrosion and the galvanized sheet-steel shelf levels cope well with everyday wear from boxes, bins and components.

Tool-free, boltless assembly

HI280 is boltless shelving built for fast installation and easy changes later. You do not need nuts, bolts, screws or special tools for the basic build. The shelf levels lock securely into the slots in the uprights, creating a sturdy structure that is stable in daily use. When stock profiles change, you can reconfigure shelf spacing without fighting fixed holes or complicated fittings.

Because the construction is simple and robust, HI280 works well for:

Fully galvanized finish

All parts of the Dexion HI280 shelving are galvanized. That makes it a solid choice for spaces where moisture may occasionally be present, such as unheated stores, loading-area back rooms or facilities where doors are opened frequently. The galvanized surface gives strong corrosion resistance and also handles scuffs and scratches better than many painted finishes.

For wet rooms or very humid areas, we recommend choosing stainless steel shelving instead. The right material choice reduces maintenance and keeps the storage area looking professional.

How an extension bay works in a shelving row

A HI280 shelving row is built in a logical, cost-efficient way. The extension bay is also commonly called an add-on bay. You begin with a starter bay (the base unit) and then connect the required number of extension bays (add-on sections) to reach the length you want.

This approach helps you plan a clean aisle layout and avoid buying unnecessary parts. It also makes it easier to extend later: if your product range grows or you reorganise locations, you can add another extension bay instead of replacing the whole row.

Choose the bay size based on your storage goods, picking ergonomics and available floor space. The HI280 range offers multiple shelf widths, depths and upright heights.

• Upright heights: 2100 mm, 2300 mm and 2500 mm (6 shelf levels)

The shelves and uprights are hot-dip galvanized. This makes the shelving a practical option for demanding environments where durability and corrosion resistance are important.

Load capacities per shelf level

Load capacity depends on the shelf dimensions and the shelf type (N, S or H). The figures below are maximum loads per shelf level. Always distribute the load evenly and plan storage so that heavier goods are placed on lower levels.
