Ladder pivot foot with rubber tread for changing work surfaces

A ladder can stand on a smooth warehouse floor in the morning and on gravel or soil later the same day. The surface changes, but the need for reliable contact at the base of the ladder does not. This ladder pivot foot with rubber tread has a 125 x 50 mm support surface and a ground-spike function in a single retrofit accessory. Place the rubber side against a hard surface, or fold the foot up so that it can be used as a ground spike on suitable outdoor ground.

Rubber ladder foot for hard floors

On concrete, coated floors and other hard surfaces, the rubber tread forms the contact point between the ladder and the floor. Its support surface measures 125 x 50 mm. The rubber surface increases friction and helps reduce unwanted movement at the base of the ladder when the ladder is positioned and used correctly. The rubber tread also keeps the metal part of the foot away from the floor.

Ground spike for suitable outdoor surfaces

When the pivot foot is folded up, it can be used as a ground spike. This gives the same accessory a second function for outdoor work on ground where a spike can make contact. Typical examples include firm soil, grass and compacted gravel, provided the location is otherwise suitable for ladder use.

The ground-spike position is useful when a flat rubber tread is not the right contact surface. The spike should engage with the ground while the ladder remains correctly positioned. The spike gives the ladder a contact option for penetrable ground, but it does not replace correct placement or a stable base.

Two functions in one ladder foot

The pivoting construction keeps the setup simple: one ladder foot can be set for two different types of surface. The rubber contact surface and the ladder spike are built into the same component. This is particularly useful for maintenance teams and site workers whose ladders move between indoor and outdoor areas.

For a hard floor, position the rubber tread against the surface. For suitable ground outdoors, fold the pivot foot up and use the ground-spike function. The correct position is determined by the surface beneath the ladder, not simply by whether the work takes place indoors or outdoors. A hard paved area outside, for example, calls for the rubber contact surface rather than the spike.

Retrofit fitting requires drilling

Unlike a push-on rubber cap, this ladder pivot foot is installed by drilling into the stile. The mounting work therefore needs to be planned carefully. Measure the ladder profile first and make sure it meets the stated minimum size of 58 x 25 mm.
