When picking, distribution or maintenance work calls for a transport trolley that’s easy to clean and won’t rust, a plastic shelf trolley is the straightforward choice. The black polypropylene shelves shrug off splashes, light oils and most workshop chemicals, while the aluminium frame keeps the whole cart in a stiff, dead-straight line year after year. Why polypropylene and aluminium rather than steel? Because most people moving this kind of trolley around aren’t worried about brute force. They’re worried about corrosion near wash bays, weight through doorways, noise on the shop floor, and the minutes lost at the end of each shift wiping the thing down.

Load capacity and working conditions

Total rated capacity is 250 kg per trolley. On the 2-tier version each shelf carries up to 125 kg, which covers most sub-assemblies, tool sets and larger kanban bins. On the 3-tier version each shelf is rated at 80 kg, plenty for picking bins, part kits and service items when vertical sorting matters more than per-shelf brute strength. Temperature range is worth knowing if you work near ovens, wash lines or cold stores. The polypropylene shelves hold their shape from +140.5 °C down to -20 °C, and the TPE castors stay stable between +90 °C and -20 °C. That keeps the trolley usable across a wide mix of warehouse, workshop and food-production environments.

A practical edge that holds the load in place

Every shelf has a low lip running around it. It isn’t tall enough to get in the way, but it’s tall enough to stop small parts from walking off the edge when you turn a corner at pace. One long side of each shelf is shaped lower than the rest. That makes a genuine difference when you’re sliding bins straight off a rack or a pallet location: you don’t lift each load over a lip, you push it across. For repetitive picking or kitting work, that small angle saves the operator’s back over the course of a shift.

Quiet, hard-wearing castors

All four castors swivel, and two of them lock with a foot brake. The wheels are 100 mm TPE on double ball bearings, which is where a lot of the day-to-day feel of a trolley comes from. TPE wheels stay quiet across concrete seams and don’t leave black marks on clean floors. They don’t go hard and brittle in a cold warehouse the way some cheaper rubbers do. The double ball bearings let the trolley start rolling with a light push even when it’s loaded close to the 250 kg limit, so the operator isn’t leaning into it like a piece of gym equipment at the end of every aisle. The two foot brakes lock the trolley firmly enough to use as a rolling workstation next to a packing bench, an assembly jig or a service point on the shop floor.

2-tier or 3-tier – which version fits your work?

The 2-tier trolley is a simple answer when loads are bulky and you’d rather fit fewer, larger items per shelf. With 125 kg per level it takes heavier sub-assemblies, bigger bins and larger tool sets without complaint. The 3-tier trolley trades per-shelf capacity for vertical sorting. Three levels of 80 kg add up to the same 250 kg total, but now each category of parts rides on its own shelf. For picking, kitting and cross-docking work, that separation is usually worth more than extra capacity on a single level.
