Steerable machinery skate for 3,000–12,000 kg loads
Moving heavy machinery inside a warehouse or production area calls for more than high load capacity. Direction, clearance and control matter just as much. This steerable machinery skate is designed for controlled internal movement of machinery, heavy pallets, steel coils and other substantial loads. Its combination of a long drawbar, rotating load platform and bearing-mounted rollers makes it easier to follow a planned route through industrial premises.
Controlled steering with a 1 m drawbar
The one-metre drawbar gives the operator a practical steering point when the load needs to change direction. The operator can guide the machinery skate from the end of the handle instead of trying to turn it at platform level. This is useful in aisles, around corners and wherever the available manoeuvring space needs to be used carefully.
The load platform rotates on a bearing. As the operator changes the direction of the handle, the platform can follow the turn while continuing to support the load. This design helps with accurate positioning, but every move still needs a clear route, enough turning space and a stable load.
Nylon and steel rollers for different load levels
The 3,000 and 6,000 kg models run on nylon rollers. The 12,000 kg version is fitted with steel rollers for its higher load class. Roller material is therefore one of the practical differences to consider alongside capacity and dimensions.
Towing eye on the 6,000 and 12,000 kg models
For longer internal transfer distances, the handles of the 6,000 and 12,000 kg models have a towing eye. It can be used to connect the steerable skate to a suitable forklift when the equipment, site procedures and moving plan allow this method. The connection point is especially useful where manual pulling would not be practical because of the load weight or route length.
Mechanical towing must remain controlled. The stated load capacity must not be exceeded, and the towing arrangement, travel route and operating method should be checked before movement begins. Any supplied operating instructions and workplace rules always take priority.
Low-profile support for heavy equipment
The platform height is 105 mm on the 3,000 kg model and 115 mm on the two larger versions. This low profile limits how far the load needs to be raised before the steerable skate can be positioned. The skate moves the load but does not lift it, so a suitable lifting method and approved working procedure are still required.
The anti-slip top helps create stable contact between the platform and the load. Correct placement remains essential: the load should be properly supported and positioned so that its weight is handled as intended. The surrounding work area should be kept clear during the move.
Three steerable machinery skate models
Each model has its own combination of capacity, roller material, dimensions and product weight:
- 3,000 kg model: four nylon rollers, dimensions 300 × 200 × 105 mm and weight 15 kg.
- 6,000 kg model: eight nylon rollers, dimensions 640 × 540 × 115 mm and weight 50 kg.
- 12,000 kg model: eight steel rollers, dimensions 640 × 570 × 115 mm and weight 66 kg.
