Variomax V is a height-adjustable combination ladder for jobs that move between level floors and staircases. It changes from a freestanding stepladder to a lean-to ladder or stair ladder, so several common access situations can be handled with one aluminium combination ladder.
Working height is adjusted rung by rung in 280 mm increments. Smooth sliding guides make the change straightforward, while the adjustable sections let the two sides be set at different heights for staircase use. Once the job is finished, the hinged ladder folds into a compact form for easier transport and storage.
Variomax V suits changing access needs in maintenance, installation, construction and warehouse work.

Access work rarely stays at one height or on one type of floor. A task may begin in an open service area, continue beside a wall and finish on a staircase. The Variomax V height-adjustable combination ladder is made for these changes. Its hinged structure can be arranged as a freestanding stepladder, a lean-to ladder or a stair ladder, giving maintenance and installation teams one aluminium combination ladder for several common situations.
The ladder adjusts rung by rung in 280 mm increments. The working height can therefore be matched more closely to the job instead of leaving the user too low or setting the ladder higher than needed. Smooth sliding guides keep the change straightforward, and the ladder folds down after use for easier transport and storage.
On a level floor, Variomax V opens into a freestanding stepladder. This setup is useful when there is no suitable wall or other leaning surface close to the work area. The ladder can be moved between maintenance points and readjusted when the required access height changes.
Beside a suitable supporting surface, the same product opens out as a lean-to ladder. This configuration provides reach for tasks higher on a wall or structure. As the ladder length changes in rung-sized steps, the setup can be matched more closely to the available space and required working height.
On a staircase, the two sides can be set at different heights. The ladder can then stand across steps while maintaining a suitable working position. This stair ladder configuration helps where a normal stepladder cannot stand correctly because its feet would otherwise need to be on the same level.
A fixed-height ladder soon becomes limiting when several access points need attention during the same shift. Variomax V provides rung-by-rung height adjustment, with each adjustment step measuring 280 mm. The working height changes in clear, repeatable stages, with no separate adjustment parts to carry from one location to another.
Smooth sliding guides make section adjustment easier during setup. That matters in facilities where the ladder may be reconfigured more than once during a job. The same adjustment also supports staircase use, as one side can be shortened or extended to suit the difference between the steps.
A multi-purpose ladder has to cope with repeated folding and adjustment. On Variomax V, the rungs are fixed to the stiles with ZARGES high-strength flanged connections. The joints in the tapered sections are welded. Together, these methods create rigid rung-to-stile joints.
The design provides adjustable access without loose conversion pieces. One ladder body changes from one configuration to another, so the complete product is easier to keep together in a shared workshop, maintenance store or service vehicle.
Variomax V folds into a compact form when it is not in use. This cuts the space needed compared with storing separate ladders for level-floor, leaning and staircase work. The folded format is also easier to handle through doorways, between work areas or when loading a service vehicle.
Compact storage is useful in workshops and service areas where tools, spare parts and equipment already take up the available room. It also helps mobile teams carrying access equipment from site to site. The folding structure keeps the ladder ready for the next job without taking up a large permanent storage area.
