Work rarely stays at one fixed height. In a stairwell, maintenance area, warehouse or construction site, the floor level can change within the same task. The Variotec V professional multi-purpose ladder is made for that situation. Its four-section aluminium design changes between a freestanding A-frame stepladder, a long lean-to ladder and a stair ladder. This gives professional users one adaptable access solution for jobs that would otherwise call for several different ladders. Both sides can be adjusted one rung at a time, in 280 mm increments. This makes it possible to compensate for different levels on a staircase while keeping the ladder in its intended working configuration. On a level floor, the same adjustment helps set a practical height for the work.

Three configurations for changing work sites

Variotec V is designed to cover three common access needs. In its freestanding position, it works as an A-frame stepladder without needing a wall for support. Extended into a straight configuration, it becomes a lean-to ladder for access at greater heights. When the two sides are set to different lengths, it can be positioned as a ladder for stairs.

As a hinged ladder, it can be changed from one intended configuration to another. This is useful when a maintenance route moves from a level production area to a stairwell, or when an installation job includes several access heights. Instead of transporting a separate stepladder and straight ladder, the user can configure the same multi-purpose ladder for the next stage of the work.

Rung-by-rung height adjustment on both sides

The height adjustment is central to the Variotec V design. Each side can be adjusted independently in 280 mm increments, so the two ends do not have to stand at the same level. On stairs, this helps match the ladder to the difference between two steps. On level ground, it provides a choice of working positions for tasks at different heights.

Adjustment one rung at a time also makes planning simpler. The user can select a configuration that suits the work area without relying on loose blocks or improvised packing under one side. Before climbing, all adjustable sections and hinges must be set and locked in accordance with the operating instructions. The supporting surfaces must also be firm, stable and suitable for ladder use.

Aluminium construction for professional use

The ladder is made from aluminium for a practical balance of strength, durability and handling. Its rungs and side stiles are connected by high-strength flanging. These non-twist connections help the ladder retain a firm structure through repeated configuration and transport. The rungs are 30 mm deep, providing a clearly defined foothold while keeping the folded ladder compact.

Durable hinges connect the ladder sections. They are bolted in place and can be replaced if required, supporting a long service life when the equipment is inspected and maintained correctly. The ergonomic locking mechanism includes a plastic closing component and is designed for clear, practical operation. As with any adjustable access product, the locks should be checked before every use.
